When August rolls around in Manchester, it’s time to come to the Southern Vermont Art and Craft Festival. The longest running craft event in the southern part of the state, the show is a magnetic attraction to the public and the exhibitors love to return yearly to renew friendships with each other and with their loyal customer/collectors.

2010 celebrates the 32nd version of this long running fair, and there is always something new. We are planning an outdoor sculpture area to welcome our customers. You will be amazed at the incredible values that are found here. Large metal creations as well as marble garden furniture cost way less than clients at galleries pay. There’s nothing like meeting the actual artist and buying at a craft show.

Along with the new offerings at the show, there are certainly old friends who are not to be missed. Woody Jackson of Vermont bovine fame returns year after year and he always has a new creation. Come check out what he’s up to this year! Barbara and Nina Briggs are a mother/ daughter team who have exhibited with Craftproducers since the first Manchester show. Their vibrant work has developed and grown over the years: you have got to see the latest whimsical sculptures Nina has developed. They will crack you up.

This show parallels Manchester’s focus on fashion. There is the full range of jewelry from fine studded with diamonds and elegant stones to funky recycled contemporary ware. Clothing ranges from conservative and classic woven goods to hip-hop painted stuff for the younger crowd.

While this Festival attracts legions of loyal craft buyers who return on a regular basis, people also love to come for the food and the music. As usual, Candeleros will be attendance cooking up roast pig smoked right on the spot. Their local free range pigs impart a wondrous taste, simultaneously spicy and sweet. This year on Sunday there will be various versions of barbeque served by several local restaurants. To further stimulate the senses, an array of Vermont beers will be available on tap. They will be selected for their compatibility with the food menu. Live music will top off the afternoon.

Do visit us this summer. Enjoy the peaceful pastoral views from this verdant valley and the creative shopping for handmade goods in our festival marketplace.
